How long is a Reiki session?
A session generally lasts between 45 and 60 minutes. You should plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early for your first visit so we can go over the paperwork and discuss your goals for the session
Will I be lying down?
Yes, you will be fully reclined comfortably on a massage table.
Am I clothed during a Reiki session?
Yes. Unlike a massage therapy session, you will be fully clothed, preferably in loose fitting, comfortable clothing.
Do your hands touch me in any way?
Reiki is done with either a light and gentle static touch or with my hands a few centimetres above your body at various positions without touch. I have standard hand placements beginning at your head or feet, “scanning” your body while avoiding all sensitive body parts. You can let me know prior to our session if you would prefer light touch or no touch.
Is one session enough or will I need more?
One session is a great start! You will feel the benefits after your first session and may decide, like many others, to purchase a series of sessions to progress through your wellness goals.
Is Reiki for an acute or chronic condition?
Reiki compliments your health or wellness plans beautifully. It is not a substitute for professional or medical care. If you have an acute condition, you should seek out an opinion from a licensed medical professional. Reiki can assist your body to create an environment for healing on all levels. Physical, mental and spiritual.
What will I feel during the session?
Different people experience receiving Reiki in different ways such as warmth, tingling sensations, images, colours and sometimes nothing. Reiki is so relaxing that you may fall asleep. Don’t be concerned, you’ll still receive all the benefits of the session awake or asleep. Nearly everyone experiences feelings of love and relaxation.
Is there talking during the session?
Usually I conduct my sessions without talking, but with ambient music playing the background. If you would like to communicate something to me such as if you are too warm or too cold or would like the music adjusted, then by all means please feel free to speak up. I want to make your session the best experience possible, so feedback after the session is always welcome and can assist me in planning your next session.
Can I drive after my session?
Yes. Even though you will feel completely relaxed, you will be in a fully awake state and possibly more grounded and centred. A 5 minute brisk walk will add to your feeling of “groundedness”.
Should I do anything special after my session?
It’s important that you drink plenty of water after your session to hydrate your body as it’s energy system may be moving at a more optimum rate. I would also recommend eating healthy food for the rest of the day and perhaps spending some quiet time that day or evening as your body continues to process the Reiki session.
If I have the flu or a contagious disease should I have Reiki?
No. As a kindness to me, please wait until you are feeling better and no longer contagious before making an appointment.
Can I have too much Reiki?
Absolutely not. Reiki works with your body’s energy Your energetic body is in control of how much Reiki it wants and needs and utilises it accordingly. You will comfortably take in as much as you need to support you. The more Reiki we do, the more your energy increases.
Reiki does not;
Conflict with religious beliefs
Interfere with Medical treatments
Depend on a certain state of mind - it works whether you believe in it or not
Reiki, not the facilitator, is the Healer.
To quote Rev. Joseph Running Wolf Sparti…
“Reiki is autonomous. It possesses its own “intelligence” and will always act in the best interest of the recipient.”
